Ladies Golf News Moorland Course Yardage Having studied the survey results completed by the ladies at the end of last season a representative group of ladies walked the course in February to see what adjustments could be made to address some of the concerns highlighted by the survey. The committee are now in a position to confirm the course set up for the competition year having had discussions with Marriott. Holes 5 & 9 These holes came out of the survey as the most difficult for most ladies. Therefore these holes will retain the original yardage positions. Rough and Carry In terms of carry the 16th was highlighted as the most difficult. Marriott have agreed to reduce the carry on this hole. The 7th hole came out of the survey as problematic because of the lack of rough resulting in straight shots if short rolling into the trees on the left. Marriott will be growing the rough to enable a fairer second shot Summary The remaining red yardage will be re positioned (adjacent to the yellow markers) to reflect the yardage for a standard scratch of 72. Remember you only need 36 points to play to par not 40 points which you needed on the previous standard scratch. The new yardage set up will be in play for the first competition on 1st April. The stroke index will not be changed this year and may be reviewed at the end of the season. Temporary cards will be printed in time for the beginning of the season. The committee would like to thank Yvonne Mellor, Ann Else, Win Sullivan and Jan Young in contributing to the discussion and giving feedback to reflect the views of all the ladies section and giving freely of their time in reaching a consensus on all the issues raised. We would also like to thank Ian Knox and his team for taking on board the views and concerns of the ladies section and giving a speedy reply to enable the changes to be made in time for the new season.
